Inside Retrography
Every signal,
captured.
Retrography quietly gathers everything your iPhone already knows about your day — visits, photos, journal entries, music, health, motion — and assembles them into one private archive. Here’s what’s inside.
01 · The day
A day, kept whole.
Every day is a page. Photos you took, places you went, notes you wrote, music you played, the news of the morning, your mood and your rings — all stitched together on a single scrollable surface.
02 · Locations
Where you went, mapped.
Retrography uses iOS visit detection to log the places you spend time — home, work, the coffee shop, the park bench — without you having to tap anything. Each visit gets a mini-map with arrival and departure times.
03 · Journal
Words, when you have them.
Type a journal entry or speak one. Voice notes transcribe on-device with Whisper — the audio never leaves your phone. Long entries get a one-paragraph summary you can scan past quickly when you scroll back through a month.
04 · Music
What was playing.
Connect Last.fm or import a Spotify takeout and your listening history appears next to the places and the photos. Five years from now you’ll remember what was on the speakers the afternoon you walked home from Le Petit Bistro.
05 · Health
How you moved.
Sleep, workouts, steps, rings, weight, walking versus driving versus cycling — pulled from HealthKit and Core Motion and folded into the day. The data stays in HealthKit; we only display it.
06 · Timeline
A year, as a pattern.
Zoom out: every day of a week, a month, a year, color-coded by where you were and what you did. Patterns you’d never see in a journal become obvious — your three productive evenings a week, your Saturdays at the park, the trip you took in October.
07 · AI
Ask anything.
“Where did I go last Sunday?” “What was I listening to in March?” “Show me the photos from the Met.” Retrography’s AI runs through AWS Bedrock — Anthropic never sees your data, AWS doesn’t train on it, and your requests are never stored on a server.
08 · Memory
On This Day, rebuilt.
A year ago, or five — Retrography pulls back the whole day: the photos, the places, the weather, the music, and your journal entry beside them. Not just the words you typed, but the day as you actually lived it.
